Four conference games were played Sunday afternoon as two teams picked up wins while two games ended in draws.
No. 22/22 UCF picked up its eighth-straight victory at home against Houston. Tatiana Coleman recorded her eighth goal of the season, putting the Knights up 1-0 at halftime. Bridget Callahan, Kayla Darden and Jennifer Martin each recorded second half goals, leading UCF to a 4-0 victory. Houston’s goalkeeper Jordan Brown had five saves on the afternoon.
USF earned its second conference victory over SMU. The Mustangs got off to a good start when it earned a team goal off a Claire Oates header that deflected off a USF defender and into the net. Olivia Chance and Jackie Simpson aided the Bulls to a 2-1 win, after they each scored second half goals. Goalkeeper Lauryn Bodden had 11 saves for the Mustangs.
Valerie Sanderson put Memphis ahead early in a road contest at Temple. The Owls responded with its own goal two-minutes later from junior Kelly Farrell.
Marissa Duguay had a chance to re-take the lead for the Tigers on a penalty kick, but goalkeeper Shauni Kerkhoff was there to make the save. After a scoreless second half, the game resulted in a double overtime draw, 1-1. This was the first draw of the season for Temple and the second in a row for Memphi
UConn found itself facing another double overtime decision, as the Huskies took on Tulsa. Christina Holmes found the net for both of Tulsa’s two goals, with her first in the 16
th minute. Danielle Gottwik and Rachel Hill each scored in the second half for the Huskies, leading Tulsa 2-1. In the 79
th minute, Holmes found her second strike and notched the equalizer. Neither team would score in overtime, ending the game 2-2, in double overtime.
