When Houston and Memphis met on Oct. 11, there was a change at quarterback for the Cougars. Greg Ward Jr., who had been a wide receiver for the early part of the season, was moved under center for the matchup with the Tigers. Ward delivered for Houston, leading the Cougars to a 28-24 win over the Tigers in thrilling fashion. Although Memphis outgained Houston in total yardage, Houston shifted the field with five takeaways in the contest.

Ward showed off his versatility in the game, running for 95 yards and a touchdown. Trailing 14-0 early in the second quarter, the impressive 64-yard scamper gave Houston its first points of the night. Ward took the snap and the pocket quickly collapsed, but he eluded the defenders, breaking free down the left side before cutting back across the middle for the touchdown. Take a look at this great play on Day 6 of the "12 Plays of Christmas".
