Temple used a 3-point barrage to lead the Owls to a win over Delaware, highlighting Thursday’s action in The American.
The Owls improved to 7-4 with an 82-62 victory over the Blue Hens. Temple went 16-of-33 from beyond the arc in the contest, with four coming from G Jesse Morgan in his Temple debut. Morgan had 16 points, as did G Quenton DeCosey, who made three 3-pointers. G Will Cummings tallied 11 points and 10 assists for the Owls, who grabbed 14 offensive rebounds in the contest.
G Ryan Boatright scored a game-high 22 points and F Kentan Facey was in double figures for the second consecutive game with 14, but it was not enough for UConn to oust No. 2/2 Duke at the Izod Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey, as the Huskies fell 66-56. UConn dropped to 4-4 in the defeat.
USF fell 89-69 to Seton Hall as the Bulls moved to 5-5. F Chris Perry led USF with 16 points while G Anthony Collins dished out 10 assists. As a team, USF had 20 assists on 27 made field goals.
There is one game Friday in The American as 8-1 Tulane looks to extend its eight-game winning streak in a Friday matinee against Jackson State. It will be the final game of a stretch of eight out of nine at home to open the season for the Green Wave, which plays its next four on the road. The Tigers are 2-9 after picking up a 20-point win over Southern Miss Thursday night.
