SMU closed out the nonconference portion of its schedule with a victory over Midwestern State in Monday’s lone American Athletic Conference game.
 
C Yanick Moreira had nine points, nine rebounds and an American Athletic Conference-record nine blocks in SMU’s 70-61 win, pushing the Mustangs’ winning streak to seven and overall record to 9-3. G Nic Moore led all scorers with 23 points while F Ben Moore tallied 10 points and 13 rebounds.
 
Cincinnati is the only team in action Tuesday as the Bearcats play a matinee at North Carolina State. The Bearcats are 8-3 on the year and lead The American in scoring defense at 54.5 points allowed per game. North Carolina State is 10-3 and 9-0 at PNC Arena in Raleigh.
 
The other 10 teams in The American will be in action Wednesday for the first day of conference play. UCF will host Tulsa, Tulane will travel to East Carolina, UConn will take on Temple, Memphis hosts Houston and USF plays at SMU.
