The American Athletic Conference placed a season-high four teams in this week’s Associated Press poll
as Cincinnati (No. 7), Louisville (No. 14), UConn (No. 22) and Memphis (No. 24) appear in this week’s top 25.
The American’s four teams tie the conference with the ACC, which also had four teams in this week’s polls. The Big 12 had five teams ranked.
In the USA Today Coaches’ Poll, The American is the only conference to have two teams ranked in the top
10 (No. 7 Cincinnati, No. 10 Louisville).
Cincinnati continued its winning ways Sunday, as the Bearcats stayed unbeaten in conference play at 10-0 with a win against USF.
The Bearcats extended their winning streak to 14 games by with a 50-45 victory against the Bulls at Fifth Third Arena. G Sean Kilpatrick again took over late in the game, scoring the last eight Cincinnati points to lock down the victory and finish with a game-high 18 points.
The next conference game comes Tuesday, as Rutgers heads to FedExForum to face Memphis for the first time. The Tigers return from a 1-1 road trip for the first of three straight home games. Rutgers snapped a four-game slide with a win against Houston last Saturday.
Tuesday’s game will match Tigers G Joe Jackson, who leads The American with 2.0 steals per game, against Rutgers G Jerome Seagears, who boasts the top assist-to-turnover ratio in the league at 2.6.
