The Cardinals were led by G Russ Smith, who battled through an illness to score 22 of his game-high 26 points in the second half in an 84-71 win against the Mustangs at Moody Coliseum. G Chris Jones added 21 points and six steals, while F Montrezl Harrell continued his strong
play with 19 points and eight rebounds. G Nick Russell led the Mustangs with 18 points and five assists, but SMU saw its 15-game winning streak at home come to an end.
UConn G Shabazz Napier scored 26 points, including a career-high seven 3-pointers, in his final home game to lead the Huskies to a 69-63 victory over the Scarlet Knights. F Niels Giffey added a career-high 16 points to give the Huskies their seventh win in the last eight games. G Myles Mack had a team-high 16 points for Rutgers.
The lone game in conference action Thursday night features another pair of ranked opponents, as No. 20/20 Memphis goes to No. 15/15 Cincinnati (7 p.m. ET, ESPN). Cincinnati seeks to snap a two-game losing streak against a Memphis squad coming off Saturday’s win against then-No. 7/4 Louisville. The Bearcats claimed a 69-53 win over the Tigers in Memphis Jan. 4 in the previous meeting this season.
