HOUSTON - UCF hit a school record five home runs in Thursday's 6-0 win over UConn. The Knights advance to the semifinals of the American Softball Championship with the victory.
UCF will face No. 5 seed Rutgers on Friday at 6:30 p.m. CT. RU advanced to the semifinal round by defeating No. 4 seed Houston 5-1.
Farrah Sullivan and Mariah Garcia had two homers apiece for UCF (40-15). It was the first time in school history that two players had multi-HR games. Sullivan also had a game-high three RBIs.
UConn closed the year with a 13-38 record. Emily O'Donnell finished 2-for-4 for the Huskies. UConn stranded 10 batters on base in the effort and finished with four hits in the loss.
