Durando's Grand Slam Lifts Rutgers Over Houston

HOUSTON - Rutgers used a four-run sixth inning, including a grand slam by Alexis Durando, to beat Houston in American Athletic Conference softball quarterfinals action. The Scarlet Knights topped the Cougars 5-1 and will face No. 1 seed UCF on Friday in the semifinals.

With the victory, Rutgers improved to 28-18 on the year. Houston fell to 32-21.

The Scarlet Knights took four walks in the game and recorded 10 hits on their way to the victory. Houston was limited to two hits on the night, both by shortstop Selena Hernandez.

Alyssa Landrith got the complete-game win on the mound for Rutgers while Julana Shrum picked up the loss for the Cougars.
