Memphis defended home court with a 63-50 victory over Cincinnati in Thursday’s lone American Athletic Conference game.
F Austin Nichols had 17 points and eight rebounds to lead the Tigers, who improved to 10-6 and 3-2 in conference play. G Avery Woodson added 14 points while G Kedren Johnson had 13 points and five assists. G Troy Caupain had a team-high 14 points for the Bearcats, who dropped to 11-5 and 2-2 in The American.
There are no games Friday in The American, as all 11 teams will be in action Saturday. Tulsa and USF will start off the slate of games with an 11 a.m. tip in Tampa. Tulane is at Houston, Memphis hosts UCF, East Carolina travels to Dallas for a matchup with SMU and Temple is at Cincinnati. The day wraps up when UConn plays its final nonconference game of the regular season when the Huskies play at Stanford at 9 p.m. ET.
