The American Today - Tulsa Moves to 8-0 in Conference Play

Tulsa improved to 8-0 in American Athletic Conference play as the Golden Hurricane tallied a road win at Tulane in Tuesday’s lone conference game.
 
G Shaquille Harrison had a game-high 16 points and F D’Andre Wright and G Rashad Ray each added 12 as Tulsa picked up a 62-55 win over Tulane at Devlin Fieldhouse. The Golden Hurricane’s guards were highly effective on the glass, with Marquel Curtis grabbing eight rebounds, Harrison and James Woodard recording seven apiece and Ray tallying six. Tulsa held a 42-31 rebounding advantage in the game. F Payton Henson had 12 points to lead Tulane. Tulsa improved to 15-5 and 8-0 in The American with the win, while Tulane fell to 13-8 and 4-5 in conference play.
 
There are four games involving teams from The American Wednesday with three conference clashes and one nonconference contest on the docket.
 
Second-place SMU travels to USF (7 p.m., ESPNU) in search of its 14th win in its last 15 games. The Mustangs are 16-4 and 7-1 in conference play and boast the top-scoring offense in The American at 70.2 points per game. USF is 6-5 this year at the Sun Dome. G Corey Allen Jr. is sixth in The American in scoring at 14.5 points per game.
 
UCF hosts Temple (7 p.m., CBSSN) in the second meeting of the year between the two teams. The Owls took the first matchup in Philadelphia Jan. 4 behind 21 points each from F Jaylen Bond and G Will Cummings. G B.J. Taylor had 21 points for UCF in that game.
 
East Carolina looks for a road win at Memphis (9 p.m., CBSSN) as the Tigers look to better a 9-3 home mark on the season. Memphis has won four out of its last five to improve to 5-3 in conference play, and holds a 14-1 advantage in the all-time series between the two foes reunited this year in The American. ECU G Terry Whisnant is averaging 23.0 points per game and shooting 60-percent (12-of-20) from outside over his last two games.
 
Houston hosts cross-town rival Rice in the Cougars’ final nonconference game of the regular season (8 p.m., ESPN3). Houston holds a commanding 61-18 all-time advantage in the series and has won the last three meetings with the Owls. Rice enters the game at 6-12 and 3-4 in Conference USA.
