PROVIDENCE, R.I. – SMU junior Lindsey McCurdy was selected as the American Women's Golf Player of the Month for the month of September, the league announced on Thursday.
McCurdy carded a third round 66 on the final day of action at the Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational on Sept. 8, helping the Mustangs a first place finish at the Colbert Hills Golf Course in Manhattan, Kan. SMU carded a 9-over par 873 (296-284-293) and finished two strokes ahead of second place finisher TCU. It was the second lowest 54-hole card in the tournament's history. McCurdy won the event with a two-under 214 (75-73-66), which tied for the third best 54-hole score in Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational history. Later in the month McCurdy won both of her match play events at the East & West Match Play Challenge, earning a 2-up victory over Penn State’s Jackie Rogowicz.
