Pairings Announced for 2015 American Men’s Soccer Championship

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – SMU earned the 2015 American Athletic Conference men’s soccer regular-season title and clinched the No. 1 seed in the American Men's Soccer Championship, the league announced on Saturday. USF will be seeded No. 2 while UConn and Tulsa claimed the third and fourth seeds, respectively. The top four seeds will host quarterfinals matchups.
 
Championship quarterfinals action will take place on campus sites on Saturday, Nov. 7 while the semifinals and title match will be held Nov. 13 and 15 at Corbett Stadium in Tampa, Fla. All eight league teams will compete for the championship title and the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
 
Tournament seeding is based on points accumulated through league play.
 
No. 1 SMU (12-2-3, 7-0-1 American) defeated Temple, 2-0, in its final matchup on Saturday. The Mustangs open tournament play next Saturday, Nov. 7 hosting No. 8 Cincinnati at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT.
 
No. 2 USF (10-4-3, 5-1-2 American) hosts No. 7 Memphis in championship quarterfinals action next Saturday at 7 p.m. ET/6 p.m. CT. The 11th ranked Bulls dropped a 2-1 (OT) matchup at UConn in their regular season finale.
 
No. 3 UConn (7-5-5, 3-3-2 American) defeated USF, 2-1, in overtime on Saturday to clinch the tournament's third seed. The Huskies host sixth-seeded Temple on Saturday, Nov. 7 at 7 p.m. ET/6 p.m. CT.
 
No. 4 Tulsa (7-6-3, 3-3-2 American) topped Memphis in its final game of the season, 3-0, and will face No. 5 UCF in the championship quarterfinals at 7 p.m. ET/6 p.m. CT on Saturday.
 
No. 5 UCF (7-8-1, 3-4-1 American) clinched the fifth spot in the conference championship with a 1-0 win over Cincinnati on Oct. 31. The Knights open tournament play on Saturday at 7 p.m. ET/6 p.m. CT at fourth-seeded Tulsa.
 
No. 6 Temple (10-6-2, 2-6-0 American) will face No. 3 UConn in the championship quarterfinals on Saturday at 7 p.m. ET/6 p.m. CT. The Owls fell to SMU, 2-0, in their final game of the regular season.
 
No. 7 Memphis (3-9-4, 1-4-3 American) wrapped up regular season action on Saturday, Oct. 31 with a 3-0 loss to Tulsa. The Tigers will face No. 2 USF in quarterfinals action on Saturday (7 p.m. ET/6 p.m. CT).
 
No. 8 Cincinnati (7-8-3, 1-4-3 American) opens tournament play on Saturday, Nov. 7 versus No. 1 SMU. Game time is slated for 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT in Dallas.
