Tulane sophomore quarterback Tanner Lee has done a lot of growing up over the last season. The Greenwave fielded one of the youngest teams in college football in 2014 and currently has 34 sophomores on the roster this year. The young but talented group is led by Lee who set a career-high with four touchdown passes in a 45-31 victory over UCF last week. Although he is only in his second season as the signal caller for the Greenwave, Lee has had a lot of experiences that most people can only dream of.
Two years ago Lee attended the Manning Passing Academy where he had the opportunity to learn from some of the best, including Peyton and Eli Manning, as well as experienced college quarterbacks. After attending the camp Lee knew the experience was going to stick with him, "I knew when I was here back then that I wanted to be a counselor one day." That wish came true this past summer as Lee returned to the camp and stood with 40 other college quarterbacks including TCU's Trevone Boykin and Mississippi State's Dak Prescott as one of the camp leaders. Lee learned a lot as a camper, but also took away great knowledge from going back as a counselor. "It was one of my favorite experiences so far since I have been playing college ball. Just being around that group of guys, that just doesn’t happen anywhere else. Getting to be around the Mannings in a personal setting, just get to know them off the field and to ask them questions is just so cool. It really is great."
After going 3-9 in 2014, Lee is ready to use his past experiences to take his game to the next level. “We are definitely looking to improve,” Lee said. “We are older with a year of experience now. We want to win the conference."
