Koepfer and Vogasari Claim Monthly Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s men’s and women’s tennis honors for the month of October.
        
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE MALE TENNIS PLAYER OF THE MONTH
Dominik Koepfer • Sr. • Tulane
Koepfer, ranked No. 10 in singles and No. 39 in doubles, advanced to the final round of the ITA All-American Singles Championships and reached the quarterfinals of the ITA All-American Doubles Championships in October. After defeating No. 22 Andre Goransson of California in the semi-finals, 6-4, 6-4, the senior fell to Virginia’s Thai-Son Kwiatkowski, 6-0, 6-2, in the singles title match. Alongside partner Chi-Shan Jao, the duo played straight out of qualifying and reached the quarterfinal round, where Koepfer and Jao nearly upset No. 12 Lipman and Orkin of Florida, 4-6, 7-6(5), 1-0(5).  
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE FEMALE TENNIS PLAYER OF THE MONTH
Despoina Vogasari • Jr. • Houston
Vogasari went 6-2 in singles play during the month of October. The Athens, Greece, product advanced to the singles championship match at the USTA/ITA Texas Regional Championships. Vogasari, ranked No. 42 in singles, upset No. 31 Saska Gavrilovska of Texas A&M, 6-1, 7-5 in the semi-finals to advance to the title match against No. 48 Breaunna Addison of Texas, where she would finish runner-up. In the singles qualifying round of the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships, Vogasari defeated No. 63 Clementina Riobueno of Miami (Fla.) before falling to Francesca Di Lorenzo of Ohio State, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2.
