Cincinnati’s Thompson and SMU’s Heise Garner Weekly Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly volleyball honors for the week ending Nov. 22.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jordan Thompson • Fr. • RS/OH • Cincinnati
Thompson recorded 5.43 kills with a .326 hitting percentage to power the Bearcats to a 2-0 week. The freshman posted a match-high 24 kills to go with nine digs in a four set win at USF. Thompson paced the Cincinnati offense with 14 kills on .387 hitting in a sweep of UCF. The Edina, Minn., product ranks third in the conference in kills per set (3.89) and points per set (4.16).  
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Morgan Heise • Jr. • L • SMU
Heise averaged 6.12 digs per set as SMU clinched sole possession of the 2015 American Athletic Conference Regular Season title and an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament. The junior libero posted 38 digs against Temple and broke the program single-season digs record, which she established last season. Heise currently has 658 digs the 2015 season. The product of Hempstead, Texas, registered 11 digs in a sweep of UConn on Friday. Heise leads the league with 6.09 digs per set.

Averaged 1.86 blocks per set, including 10 total blocks in a sweep of UCF.

Recorded 4.12 kills per set and 4.50 digs, including a 21-kill, 16-dig performance against Memphis.   
 
Janelle Giordano • Jr. • MB • SMU
Produced 3.25 kills on .451 hitting and 1.62 blocks, including 20 kills (.500) and eight total blocks against Temple.
 
Irem Asci • So. • OH • Temple
Registered 4.83 kills per set and 3.17 digs in a 3-0 week, including 24 kills and 21 digs in a win against league-leading SMU.
