The American Today: Hearn Lifts Memphis to Victory With Last Second Shot

Memphis 61, Southern Illinois 58
Senior Ariel Hearn buried a 3-pointer with seconds remaining in regulation to give Memphis a 61-58 win over Southern Illinois. Hearn scored a team-high 14 points to go with her first game-winning shot of her collegiate career. Asianna Fuqua-Bey recorded 12 points and seven rebounds while Brianna Wright and Mooriah Rowser produced 10 points apiece.      
 
NR/RV St. John’s 74, No. 18/17 USF 70
No. 18/17 USF fell to NR/RV St. John’s on Saturday afternoon, 74-70. Courtney Williams, who has scored 20-plus points in all five games this season, paced the offense with a game-high 28 points. Alisia Jenkins recorded nine points and 15 rebounds while Laura Ferreira added 10 points.  
 
Butler 71, UCF 63
UCF was unable to fend off a Butler comeback as the Bulldogs captured a 71-63 win in the UCF Thanksgiving Classic. Four Knights reached double figures with Zykira Lewis headlining the bunch with 19 points. Fifi Ndour produced a season-high 12 points and grabbed 12 rebounds while Joslyn Massey and Kayla Thigpen netted 10 points each.
 
Saint Joseph’s 70, Temple 67
A strong fourth quarter lifted Saint Joseph’s over Temple, 70-67, at McGonigle Hall on Saturday. Feyonda Fitzgerald led the Owls with 19 points, six assists and five rebounds. Tanaya Atkinson posted 12 points while Alliya Butts tallied 10 points.  
 
George Mason 64, Tulsa 63
George Mason knocked down a jumper with 14 seconds remaining in regulation to give the Patriots the 64-63 win over Tulsa in the UNLV Lady Rebel Round Up. Kelsee Grovey scored a team-high 16 points. Ashley Clark posted 15 points while Tyjae’ Scales grabbed a career-high seven rebounds.
