DALLAS - The American Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Championship commenced on Tuesday, with the first quarterfinal matchup held at 11 a.m. CT, between No. 4 Cincinnati and No. 5 Tulsa. 
A 2-0 victory by the Bearcats marked their second consecutive shutout win over the Hurricane, after a 1-0 defeat of Tulsa at home to close out the regular season on Oct. 25.
Senior Danielle Rotheram scored in the 28th minute on an assist by freshman Cassie Wheldon to give the Bearcats a 1-0 advantage. The goal marked Rotheram’s team-leading ninth of the season, and her fourth game-winner this year.
An insurance goal in the 67th minute by sophomore midfielder Jaycie Brown put Cincinnati up 2-0. Sophomore Julie Gavorski assisted the goal. Brown led the Bearcats with 4 shots, including two on goal.
The Hurricane outshot Cincinnati, 11-10, but had 0 shots on goal. Sophomore Tana Dake led Tulsa with three shots, including two in the first half. Kajal Parmar, a senior forward, also had two shots for Tulsa. Courtney McKeon tallied three stops in goal for the Hurricane.
The Bearcats will go on to play the winner of the second quarterfinal game between UConn and East Carolina. The semifinal game will be held on Thursday at 5 p.m. CT.
The 2015 championship is being held at Westcott Field on the SMU campus in Dallas. The semifinals will take place on Nov. 5. All games of both the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds will be aired for free on The American Digital Network. The final will be on Sunday, Nov. 8 and will be aired live on ESPN 3/WatchESPN, with a tape delay at 6 p.m. ET/5 p.m. CT on ESPNU.
