No. 2 USF Rolls Past Memphis, 3-0, and Into Women's Soccer Semis

DALLAS – The third quarterfinal game of the American Athletic Conference Championship was held at 4:30 p.m. CT, between No. 2 USF and No. 7 Memphis. The teams were competing for their first win against each other this year, since their last meeting on Oct. 11 ended in a 2-2 (2OT) draw. USF claimed the 3-0 victory and has improved to 11 shutouts on the season, with a conference-best 0.60 goals against average.

The Bulls took an early 1-0 lead when junior forward Leticia Skeete netted her sixth goal of the year in the 14th minute.

Senior Jackie Simpson, the 2015 American Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year, scored two second half goals for the Bulls to give them a 3-0 advantage. Simpson has four goals this year, and eight total in her career.


The Bulls outshot the Tigers 14-5, with a 6-2 difference in shots on goal. Olivia Chance and Trudi Carter both took four shots for the Bulls and each registered two assists in the match. Chance now leads the conference with a total of 10 assists on the season.

Five different players each recorded a shot for Memphis, with freshman Elizabeth Woerner and sophomore Sydney Kingston’s shots being on goal.

The Tigers’ junior goalie Maryse Bard-Martel tallied three saves, while USF keeper Kat Elliott recorded two.



USF will go on to play the winner of the final quarterfinal match, No. 3 UCF vs. No. 6 Temple, in Thursday’s semifinal match at 7:30 p.m. CT.

The 2015 championship is being held at Westcott Field on the SMU campus in Dallas. The semifinals will take place on Nov. 5. All games of both the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds will be aired for free on The American Digital Network. The final will be on Sunday, Nov. 8 and will be aired live on ESPN 3/WatchESPN, with a tape delay at 6 p.m. ET/5 p.m. CT on ESPNU.
