Stewart and Thigpen Claim Weekly Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s basketball honors for the week ending Nov. 29.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Breanna Stewart • Sr. • F • UConn
Stewart averaged 25 points, nine rebounds, four assists and three blocks in a 2-0 week for the top-ranked Huskies. The senior forward shot 69.2 percent from the field, including 62.5 percent from behind the arc on the week. In a 97-57 win over Kansas State on Monday, Stewart scored 25 points on 8-of-15 shooting to go with eight rebounds, five assists, three blocks and three steals in 31-minutes of action.  The North Syracuse, N.Y., product recorded her first double-double of the season with 25 points and 10 rebounds in an 88-46 win over RV/RV Nebraska. Stewart shot 10-of-11 from the field, including connecting on her first nine shots of the game.   
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Kayla Thigpen • Fr. • G • UCF
Thigpen posted a pair of double digit scoring games as she averaged 10.3 points on 52 percent shooting on the week for the Knights. The freshman guard recorded a career-high 18 points to go with four steals and three assists in a win over South Alabama, 77-36. Thigpen shot 80 percent on 10 attempts in the win. The West Palm Beach, Fla., native produced 10 points, including two 3-pointers against Butler in the final day of the UCF Thanksgiving Classic.

Averaged a double-double with 20.7 points and 11 rebounds on 58 percent shooting, including a 22-point and 13-rebound performance against No. 19 Northwestern.
 
Ariel Hearn • Sr. • G • Memphis
Eclipsed the 1,500 career scoring milestone in a 16-point performance against Little Rock and knocked down the game-winning 3-pointer with seconds remaining in regulation against Southern Illinois.
 
Courtney Williams • Sr. • G • USF
Recorded 29 points and 10 rebounds in a win over Butler and posted 28 points with three 3-pointers against NR/RV St. John’s.  
 
McKenzie Adams • So. • G • SMU
Named the SMU Thanksgiving Classic Most Valuable Player after leading the Mustangs to the tournament title with a19.5 points per game in a pair of wins.
 
Kolby Morgan • So. • G • Tulane
Named to the Paradise Jam All-Tournament team after averaging 17.7 points per game, including a 21-point performance in a 67-62 win against NR/RV Virginia.
