Temple’s Asci and Cincinnati’s Alaiwan Claim Final Weekly Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s final weekly volleyball honors for the week ending Nov. 29.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Irem Asci • So. • OH • Temple
Asci produced 13 kills with a .524 hitting percentage to power Temple to a 3-0 sweep of East Carolina in its final match of the season.  The sophomore added seven digs in the win. Asci ranked amongst the conference leaders in kills (3.33, 6th) and  points (3.69, 6th). The Owls finished the year in second place in the conference standings with a 15-5 league record. Temple closed out the regular season with a seven-match win streak to finish the year with a 24-8 overall record.  
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Lise Alaiwan • Jr. • MB • Cincinnati
Alaiwan powered the Bearcats’ defense with 2.14 blocks per set in a 2-0 week. The junior posted  three solo blocks and six assisted for a career-high nine total blocks in a four set win over Houston. In the final match of the regular season, Alaiwan produced six total blocks (two solo) and five digs against Tulane. The France native ranked second in the conference in blocks per set (1.45). Cincinnati concluded the year with a third place league record of 13-7 and a 21-10 mark overall.  
 
WEEKLY HONOR ROLL

Anchored the Knights’ defense with 6.14 digs per set in a 1-1 week.
 
Jordan Thompson • Fr. • RS/OH • Cincinnati
Recorded 4.43 kills per set, including 18 kills in a four set victory against Houston.
 
Catlin Lilly • Jr. • OH • Memphis
Averaged 3.83 kills per set with a .309 hitting percentage in a pair of sweeps for the Tigers.
 
Wylie Devlin • Sr. • DS • USF
Produced 6.57 digs per set in a 1-1 week, including 22 digs in a 3-2 win over SMU on Wednesday.
 
Morgan Heise • Jr. • L • SMU
Posted 25 digs in five sets against USF and 23 digs in a sweep of UCF.
