Editor's Note: Heading into the Holiday Season and the end of 2015 we thought it would be nice to look back at some of the best plays from the past year. We scoured through lots of video footage and came up with our "12 Plays of Christmas". Every day we will reveal a new play that we consider to be one of our best from the year. The list will end with play number 1 on Christmas Eve.
Play 10 – Tulsa Hail Mary
Watch Play
On October 23 the Tulsa Golden Hurricane hosted undefeated No. 18/17 Memphis, who came into the game riding the third-longest winning streak in the country (13 games) behind Ohio State and TCU. The Tigers seemed to be pulling away with a 35-14 advantage late in the first half.
The Golden Hurricane signal caller Dane Evans had time for one last play before the intermission. The junior quarterback looked to be in trouble as he scrambled out of the pocket, shook off a Memphis defender and threw up a wing-and-a-prayer pass to the end zone. Despite being blanketed by the Tiger’s defense Keyarris Garrett hauled in the deflected pass with one hand for the score. The Golden Hurricane touchdown cut the deficit to 14 as the teams headed into the locker room.
Tulsa eventually fell to Memphis, 66-42, as Paxton Lynch completed 32 of 44 passes for a career-high 447 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Tigers to their 14th straight game. Despite the Golden Hurricane loss this is a play we certainly will remember.
