Butts and Collier Claim Weekly Women's Basketball Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s basketball honors for the week ending Dec. 13.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Alliya Butts • So. • G • Temple • Edgewater Park, N.J.
Butts averaged 18.5 points, four steals and 3.5 assists in a 2-0 week for the Owls. The sophomore guard shot 58.3-percent from the field and went 8-of-14 (57.1-percent) from behind the arc in the wins. Butts started the week with 24 points, including a career-high six 3-pointers to go with six assists and six steals against Sacred Heart. The product of Edgewater Park, N.J., closed out the week with 13 points while knocking down .50-percent of her shots in a win at Fordham.

Napheesa Collier • Fr. • G/F • UConn • O’Fallon, Missouri
Collier recorded eight points per game, six rebounds, four steals and three assists in two wins for the top-ranked Huskies. The freshman produced a well-balanced performance against Colgate with 10 points, five rebounds, four assists and four steals. In her first start of the season, Collier registered seven rebounds, six points and four steals in a 73-49 win against No. 11/9 Florida State in the Hall of Fame Classic at the Mohegan Sun Arena on Friday.

Recorded 14 points on 70-percent shooting to go with eight rebounds and three blocks against Minnesota.
 
Courtney Williams • Sr. • G • USF • Folkston, Ga.
Posted her fourth double-double of the season with 15 points and 11 rebounds in a 61-33 win against Chattanooga.

Tied an SMU single-game record with 21 rebounds to go with 14 points against then-No. 12/11 Texas A&M on Monday.
