Editor's Note: Heading into the Holiday Season and the end of 2015 we thought it would be nice to look back at some of the best plays from the past year. We scoured through lots of video footage and came up with our "12 Plays of Christmas". Every day we will reveal a new play that we consider to be one of our best from the year. The list will end with play number 1 on Christmas Eve.
Play 5 - Tre'Quan Smith's Over The Defender Catch
Watch Play
In a tough year for UCF, Tre'Quan Smith proved to be a spark and a future playmaker for the Knights. The freshman earned American Rookie of the Year honors after finishing the season with 52 receptions for 724 yards and four touchdowns. His performance in his rookie season shows promise of so much more to come in the next three years. One could argue that his performance against Tulsa was one of his best.
Smith tallied seven receptions for 131 yards against the Golden Hurricane on November 7. The play of the game came in the first quarter when Smith, who was battling tigh one-on-one coverage against Tulsa's Jordan Mitchell, climbed over the defender and snatched the ball while taking a helmet to the stomach. Pass Interfence was called on the play but declined as UCF picked up 32 yards and the first down.
