Latham and Collier Claim Weekly Women’s Basketball Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s basketball honors for the week ending Dec. 27.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Courtnie Latham • Jr. • G • Tulane • Houston, Texas
Latham helped the Green Wave capture their 16th Tulane Classic title with a 66-58 win against Saint Louis on Monday. The junior guard earned all-tournament honors and produced a career-high 23 points in the title game. Latham went a perfect 12-for-12 from the free throw line in the win.   
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Napheesa Collier • Fr. • G/F • UConn • O'Fallon, Missouri
Collier recorded seven points and tied a season-high with 12 rebounds in UConn’s 86-40 win over LSU on Monday evening at the XL Center. The product of O’Fallon, Missouri, added six blocks and registered four steals as the Huskies captured their 46th consecutive win.

Produced a team-high 18 points against RV/RV Oklahoma State on Tuesday afternoon.

Led the Bearcat’s offense with eight points and grabbed five rebounds against RV/RV Georgia.
 
Moriah Jefferson • Sr. • G • UConn • Glenn Heights, Texas
Recorded a team-high 17 points and distributed seven assists in an 86-40 win against LSU on Monday evening.
 
McKenzie Adams • So. • G • SMU • Frisco, Texas
Posted 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds against No. 9/10 Mississippi State in the Puerto Rico Classic championship.   
 
Tierra Jones • Sr. • F • Tulane • Madison, Ala.
Registered her first career double-double with 10 points and a career-high 15 rebounds in the title game of the Tulane Classic.
