B.J. Tyson and Kentrell Barkley combined for 44 points to lead East Carolina (ECU) past USC Upstate, 82-71, at Minges Coliseum in the lone American game on Friday. It was the ninth straight non-conference home win and third consecutive win overall for the Pirates, which improved to 5-3 with the victory. Tyson had a career-high 26 points on 9-of-12 shooting from the floor while Barkley added 18 points and led ECU with nine rebounds. East Carolina shot 54-percent from the fl oor for the third straight game, including 64.9-percent inside the arc.
