Jenkins and Samuelson Earn Weekly Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s basketball honors for the week ending Dec. 6.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Alisia Jenkins • Sr. • F • USF • Statesboro, Ga.
Jenkins averaged 24 points on 75-percent shooting and 17 rebounds in a 2-0 week for the Bulls. The senior forward produced her second 20-20 game of her career with 27 points and 20 rebounds against Harvard. Jenkins converted 9-of-10 attempts from the free throw line and shot 69-percent from the floor in the win. The product of Statesboro, Ga., wrapped the week with a 24-point, 17-rebound performance against Penn State. Jenkins went 9-for-11 (81-percent) from the field in the victory over the Nittany Lions.  
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Katie Lou Samuelson • Fr. • G/F • UConn • Huntington Beach, Calif.
Samuelson produced 11.5 points per game and shot 61-percent from the floor in a pair of top 25 wins for the Huskies. The freshman scored 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting (66-percent) in 12 minutes of action at No. 23/18 DePaul on Wednesday. Samuelson recorded 13 point, including three 3-pointers, three rebounds and two steals in a win over No. 3 Notre Dame on Saturday in the Jimmy V Classic.  
 
WEEKLY HONOR ROLL

Averaged 28 points and four assists, including a career-high 35 points against No. 10/12 Ohio State on Sunday.  
 
Breanna Stewart • Sr. • F • UConn • North Syracuse, N.Y.
Produced 28.5 points and 11 rebounds in a pair of top 25 wins for the Huskies.
 
I’Tiana Taylor • Sr. • F • East Carolina • Pflugerville, Texas
Registered fourth double-double of the season with 20 points and 14 rebounds at Auburn over the weekend.
 
Ariel Hearn • Sr. • G • Memphis • Memphis, Tenn.
Averaged 19 points, 5.5 rebounds and four steals in a pair of games for the Tigers.
 
Stephanie Collins • So. • F • SMU • Melbourne, Australia
Averaged 11.5 points, eight rebounds and four blocks in two games for the Mustangs.
