UConn, USF, Tulane and Tulsa Athletes Earn Weekly Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Student-athletes from UConn, USF, Tulane and Tulsa are the winners of the weekly American Athletic Conference awards for indoor track and field.
 
Tulsa’s Marc Scott is Men’s Track Athlete of the Week for his performance in the 5,000 meters. The sophomore from North Yorkshire, England broke the program record in the event this weekend at Iowa State, finishing in 13:47.96. The time was the best in The American this season.
 
USF’s Matthew O’Neal is Men’s Field Athlete of the Week for the second time this year. The junior from Jackson, Mississippi, won the triple jump at Indiana with a mark of 51-7.25/15.73 meters. O’Neal’s mark of 53-11/16.43 meters Jan. 23 at UAB is the best in The American this season.
 
Tulane’s Lilla McMillan is Women’s Track Athlete of the Week for the third time this season. The junior from Mill Valley, California, recorded top-five conference times in the 200-meter dash and the 400-meter dash over the weekend at the Birmingham CrossPlex. McMillan’s time of 23.99 in the 200 was a personal best and the third-best time in The American this year. She ran the 400 in 53.98, good for second among conference runners.
 
UConn’s Odrine Belot is Women’s Field Athlete of the Week for her efforts in the triple jump. The junior from Elmont, New York, notched a mark of 42-9/13.03 meters at Boston University, which is tops in The American and 10th nationally on the year.

Weekend Recap
 
-  Cincinnati took part in the SPIRE D1 Invitational, as Rebecka Abrahamsson broke the program record in the triple jump with a mark of 41-1.5/12.53 meters.
 
- UConn’s Lauren Sara posted the top conference time of the year in the women’s 5,000 meters at 16:30.36. Demario Gray had The American’s second-best mark of the year in the high jump at 6-8.75/2.05 meters.
 
- Houston’s Cameron Burrell ran the 60-meter dash in 6.60, good for the second-best time in The American this year and a top-10 time nationally. On the women’s side, Bria Carter ran in 7.45, placing her second in the conference.
 
- Memphis’ Martine Bye won the high jump at LSU with a mark of 5-8.5/1.74 meters. Martina Rodriguez-Sala won the mile in 4:53.21.
 
- USF’s Natasha Stewart won the long jump at Indiana with a mark of 19-1.5/5.83 meters.
 
- SMU’s Holly Archer won the 3,000 meters at Arkansas in 9:31.56. Isabella Marten recorded a mark of 41-11.25/12.78 meters in the triple jump, good for the third-best mark in The American on the year.
 
- Tulane’s Tamika Brazzel posted the top conference mark of the year in the long jump at 19-6.25/5.95 meters.
 
- Tulsa’s Bryce Robinson ran the top time of the year in The American in the 60-meter dash at 6.59, which places him in the top 10 nationally. Adam Palamar ran the top conference mile time of the year (3:59.91.)
