USF held off Houston for a win in Tampa in Tuesday’s lone American Athletic Conference game.
The Bulls defeated the Cougars 69-67 at the Sun Dome behind a career-high 18 points from G Troy Holston Jr. G Anthony Collins added 13 points for USF while F Bo Zeigler had 11. The Bulls shot 51-percent from the floor for the game. G L.J. Rose scored a career-best 25 to lead Houston.
Three teams from The American are in action Wednesday with one conference and one nonconference game on the docket.
Tulsa hosts East Carolina (7 p.m., ESPNU) as the Golden Hurricane looks to snap a two-game slide after opening conference play 10-0. The Pirates are 3-2 in the month of February with wins over UCF, Cincinnati and Memphis. Tulsa outlasted ECU 66-64 in Greenville Jan. 24.
Cincinnati continues its annual series with Xavier (7 p.m., ESPN2) by hosting the Musketeers at Fifth Third Arena. Wednesday marks the 82
nd all-time meeting between the teams but only the 28
th on a campus site. The Bearcats hold a 49-32 advantage in the series.
