The American Today - UCF Stays Unbeaten; Tulane Sweeps San Francisco

Tulane and UCF kept rolling in nonconference play with victories Sunday, while Memphis head coach Daron Schoenrock reached a career milestone.
 
Tulane defeated San Francisco 5-3 to complete a sweep of the Dons and improve to 6-1 on the year. RHP Tim Yandel held the Dons to one run on three hits over seven innings while 1B Hunter Williams homered.
 
2B Kyle Marsh drove in three runs and RF Erik Barber homered in No. 22 UCF’s 7-5 win over South Alabama. CF JoMarcos Woods doubled twice and scored three runs for the Knights, who improved to 7-0 on the year.
 
RHP Caleb Wallingford allowed one run over five innings in Memphis’ 5-2 win over Central Arkansas. The victory was the 300th in the head coaching career of Daron Schoenrock. The Tigers improved to 2-2 on the year with the win.
 
USF played to a 4-4 tie against Wagner in a game called after 11 innings due to travel arrangements. DH Luke Borders and CF Austin Lueck homered for the Bulls, who moved to 4-2-1.
 
East Carolina split a doubleheader with a 9-2 win over St. John’s following a 4-3 loss to No. 25 Liberty. RHP David Lucroy held the Red Storm to one unearned run over seven innings of work. DH Luke Lowery hit his third home run of the year in the loss to the Flames.
 
No. 3/11 Houston fell for the first time this year as the Cougars dropped an 8-3 decision to Alabama. SS Connor Wong drove in a pair of runs for Houston, which fell to 6-1.
 
LHP Anthony Kay struck out 10 and allowed just one earned run over eight innings, but UConn fell to Siena 3-1 in Port St. Lucie, Florida. RF Jon Testani homered for the Huskies, who will complete their series with the Saints tomorrow.
