No. 23/23 SMU handed Tulsa its first conference loss of the year, snapping the Golden Hurricane’s 12-game winning streak with a 68-57 win at Reynolds Center. G Nic Moore had 23 points and seven assists, while C Yanick Moreira tallied 13 points and 13 rebounds as the Mustangs improved to 18-5 and 9-2 in The American. G James Woodard had 15 points to lead Tulsa.
G Josh Brown banked in a jumper with seconds remaining to lift Temple to a 61-60 win over Memphis at FedEx Forum. G Jesse Morgan led the Owls with 16 points as Temple erased a 16-point deficit for the victory. The Owls improved to 17-7 and 8-3 in The American with the win. Memphis F Austin Nichols led all scorers with 17 points.
G Ryan Boatright had a game-high 18 points, G Rodney Purvis chipped in 17 and F Amida Brimah tallied eight blocks as UConn defeated Tulane 62-53 at Devlin Fieldhouse. The Huskies shot 50-percent from the floor to move to 13-9 and 6-4 in The American. G Louis Dabney was one of three Tulane players in double figures, leading the Green Wave with 13 points.
G Farad Cobb scored a team-high 16 points as Cincinnati held off USF with a 63-58 win to move to 17-6 and 8-3 in The American. The Bearcats grabbed 18 offensive rebounds in the victory. G Corey Allen Jr. had a game-high 18 points for USF.
F Caleb White tallied 21 points and nine rebounds as East Carolina downed UCF 67-49 at Minges Coliseum. G Terry Whisnant added 11 points for the Pirates, who improved to 10-13 and 3-7 in The American. F Staphon Blair had 12 points and seven rebounds for the Knights.
The next games in The American will be Tuesday with Memphis at East Carolina (7 p.m., ESPNU) and Temple hosting Cincinnati (7:30 p.m., CBSSN).
