Lisa Stockton Gets 500th Win in Tulane's First-Round Victory Over Houston, 64-39

UNCASVILLE, Conn. – No. 6 seed Tulane led wire-to-wire in a 64-39 victory over No. 11 seed Houston in first round action at the 2015 American Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Championship.
 
Sophomore Courtnie Latham matched a career-best with 14 points to lead the Green Wave, as Tulane improved to 21-9 on the season. Tulane shot 46.2-percent from the floor in the victory while holding the Cougars to 26-percent shooting. The victory was the 500th in the head coaching career of Tulane’s Lisa Stockton.

The Green Wave opened the game on an 8-0 run before the teams traded baskets up to an 18-10 Tulane advantage with 6:23 remaining in the first half. From there, the Green Wave rattled off a 12-0 run to head to the locker room with a 30-10 cushion.
 
The lead would balloon to as much as 34 on three separate occasions in the second stanza before the Cougars closed the game on a 9-0 run for the final margin.
 
Ten different players scored for the Green Wave, including a career-best six points in 14 minutes off the bench for freshman Caylah Cruickshank. Six Tulane players scored six or more points.
 
Junior Jessieka Palmer and freshman Mariah Mitchell each had seven points to lead the Cougars. 
 
The Green Wave advances to face No. 3 seed Tulsa in a quarterfinal game Saturday at 8 p.m. on ESPN3.
