UNCASVILLE, Conn. – No. 1 seed UConn shot 77-percent (24-for-31) in the first half en route to a 106-56 win over No. 5 seed East Carolina in semifinals action of the 2015 American Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Championship.
 
Senior Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis had 21 points in the contest in 28 minutes on the floor. Mosqueda-Lewis tallied 19 of her points in the first half, going 7-of-8 from the floor and 5-of-6 from beyond the arc in the opening 20 minutes. The performance was the 32nd of 20 or more points in Mosqueda-Lewis’ UConn career.
 
Junior Moriah Jefferson added 20 points for UConn, while junior Breanna Stewart (16), sophomore Morgan Tuck (15) and freshman Gabby Williams (12) were also in double figures for the Huskies. The 106 points were a season high for UConn, which improved to 31-1.

 

Junior I’Tiana Taylor led the Pirates with 17 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the floor. Junior Jada Payne added 15 while hitting three 3-pointers. ECU dropped to 21-10 on the year in the defeat.
 
The Huskies led 62-22 at halftime and tallied 16 assists, nine blocks and nine steals in the opening 20 minutes.

The contest was the third of the year that saw the Huskies put triple digits on the scoreboard. UConn improved to 3-0 this season at Mohegan Sun Arena.
 
UConn advances to The American Championship final Monday night at 7 p.m. on ESPN. The Huskies will face the winner of Sunday’s second semifinal between No. 2 seed USF and No. 6 seed Tulane.
