The American Today - Houston Walks Off With Win

Three of Friday’s four games in The American were decided by two runs or less, including a walk-off win in Houston.
 
DH Jacob Campbell’s double in the ninth plated 2B Josh Vidales as No. 22 Houston walked off with a 4-3 win over Tulane. RHP Patrick Weigel tossed 2.1 innings of scoreless, hitless relief in the win for the Cougars, who improved to 22-12 and 3-4 in The American. 2B Jake Willsey had two hits for the Green Wave, which dropped to 21-13 and 2-5 in conference play.
 
RHP Jimmy Herget threw eight innings of one-run ball and struck out nine in USF’s 2-1 win over East Carolina. All the scoring came in the fifth inning, as Pirate C Travis Watkins’ RBI single was answered by a two-run homer from Bulls RF Luke Maglich. The Bulls improved to 23-11-1 and 6-1 in conference play, while the Pirates fell to 20-14 and 3-4 in The American.
 
RHP Carson Cross tossed seven innings of one-run ball in UConn’s 6-4 win over No. 12/18 UCF. 1B Bobby Melley had three hits for the Huskies, who improved to 21-12 and 4-3 in The American. C Jordan Savinon drove in three runs for the Knights, who dropped to 24-11 and 3-4 in The American.
 
Cincinnati won for the fourth time in its last five games with a 6-2 victory over Memphis. CF Treg Haberkorn homered and drove in three runs for the Bearcats, who lifted their record to 10-21 and 3-4 in conference play. 1B Tucker Tubbs homered twice for the Tigers, who dropped to 21-9 and 4-3 in The American.
