The American Today - Cincinnati Walks Off in 12th for Series Win

The third weekend of conference play in The American wrapped up with Cincinnati’s walk-off win making the Bearcats series winners, while UCF, East Carolina and Tulane all took the third game of their series.
 
3B Devin Wenzel brought home RF Ian Happ on a 12th-inning double to give Cincinnati an 8-7 win over Memphis. Happ had a career-best 5-for-5 performance to go along with two homers, three RBIs and three runs scored. RHP Andrew Zellner and RHP Tanner Schimmoeller combined to toss 3.1 innings of scoreless relief to set up the walk-off win, which lifted the Bearcats to 11-22 and 4-5 in The American with their second consecutive series win. 1B Tucker Tubbs homered in his fifth consecutive game for Memphis, which fell to 22-10 and 5-4 in The American.
 
RHP Zach Rodgers tossed a complete-game five-hitter and allowed just one unearned run in No. 12/18 UCF’s 5-1 win over UConn. Rodgers struck out seven and walked none as he improved to 6-0 on the season. 1B James Vasquez drove in three runs for the Knights, who improved to 25-12 and 4-5 in conference play. 1B Bobby Melley’s first-inning sac fly provided the lone run for UConn, which fell to 22-13 and 5-4 in The American.
 
RHP Alex Massey threw a complete-game two-hitter in Tulane’s 3-1 win over No. 22 Houston. 3B Hunter Hope drove in two of the three runs for the Green Wave, which moved to 22-14 and 3-6 in The American. SS Connor Wong homered for the Cougars, who fell to 23-13 and 4-5 in conference play.
 
Four East Carolina pitchers combined for a five-hit shutout in a 6-0 win over USF.  RF Reid Love drove in a pair of runs for the Pirates, who improved to 21-15 and 4-5 in The American. SS Kyle Teaf had three hits for the Bulls, who dropped to 24-12-1 and 7-2 in conference play.
