Tulsa recorded their second victory in as many days over Oklahoma State (OSU) with a 2-1 comeback win Thursday night at Cowgirl Stadium in Stillwater, Okla. The Hurricane was able to overcome a 1-0 deficit with a pair of runs in the seventh inning, sweeping Oklahoma State in a midweek home-and-home series.
Senior Bailey Erwin (13-3) earned the victory in the circle and allowed one run on four hits. OSU took the lead in the bottom of the fifth when Michaela Patton scored from second on an RBI single by left fielder Maddie Holcomb. Tulsa’s seventh inning rally secured the win for the Golden Hurricane, as they improved their record to 28-15 overall.
Designated player Brittany Walker went 2-3 and had two of Tulsa’s six hits, including a base hit up the middle to lead off the seventh. Freshman Kate Myers drove home the first run, as Walker scored ahead of the throw on Myers’ fielder’s choice. Maddie Withee crossed the plate with the Hurricane’s winning run on Jodi Edmiston’s groundout to short.
The first game of the Tulsa-OSU series was played on Wednesday, as the Hurricane shutout the Cowgirls 3-0 at home. The Hurricane will look to increase its five-game win streak this weekend as the (RV/RV) Kansas Jayhawks travel to Tulsa for a two-game non-conference series at the Collins Family Softball Complex. The teams will play one game on each Saturday and Sunday, with both games scheduled to start at 2 p.m. CT.
