USF Captures American Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Championship

TULSA, Okla. -
USF captured its second consecutive American Athletic Conference men’s tennis championship with a 4-0 win over Tulsa at Case Tennis Center Sunday.
 
The Bulls won on two of three doubles courts and at No. 2, 4 and 5 singles to clinch the match and The American’s automatic qualifier into the NCAA tournament. Oliver Pramming was named Most Outstanding Player and clinched the match with a win over the Golden Hurricane’s Alejandro Espejo (6-4, 6-3).
 
USF opened the match by taking the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and 2. Sasha Gozun and Vadym Kalyuzhnyy won at No. 2 over Tulsa’s Matthew Kirby and Dylan McCloskey by a 6-3 margin before Tulsa’s Juan Matias Gonzalez and Carlos Bautista defeated Roberto Cid and Ignacio Gonzalez-Muniz at No. 3 (6-3). Pramming and Justin Roberts closed out the doubles point with a 6-3 win at No. 1.
 
Roberts defeated Bautista at No. 5 (6-4, 6-3) and USF’s Gonzalez-Muniz dropped Gonzalez at No. 4 (7-5, 6-2) before Pramming clinched the match with a win at No. 2.

Both teams will await their seeding and location for the NCAA Championship. The selection show is slated for Tuesday, April 28 at 5:30 p.m.
