UCF Takes Eight Stroke Lead at American Women’s Golf Championship

ROUND TWO RESULTS

PALM COAST, Fla. – A pair of UCF golfers are among individuals at the top of the leaderboard Monday and the Knights hold an eight-shot lead in the team standings following the second day of competition at the 2015 American Women’s Golf Championship at Hammock Beach Resort & Golf Club.
 
The third and final round of the championship will begin Tuesday at 8 a.m. eastern. An awards ceremony and trophy presentation will take place shortly following the conclusion of the final round. 
 
UCF shot a second-round best 287 on Monday and currently leads the field with a two-round two-over-par total of 578 (291-237). Houston and SMU share runner-up honors at 586. The Cougars shot 289 and finished 10-over-par (297-289:586), while the Mustangs tied the Knights with a second round low of 287 to finish 10-over (299-287:586). 
 
SMU’s Alexandra Rossi (70-71) and UCF’s Monifa Sealy (70-71) currently share medalist honors in the individual race with a three-under-par score of 141, while four players are tied for third. SMU’s Jenny Haglund (74-69), Memphis’ Michaela Fletcher (71-72), UCF’s Ashley Holder (74-69) and USF’s Ashley Burke (67-76) round out the third-place ties with one-under-par scores of 143. Haglund and Holder shot a second-round best 69 to tie for third-place honors.
