UCF Wins 2015 American Women’s Golf Championship, Sealy Claims Individual Medalist Honors

PALM COAST, Fla. –
UCF shot a 4-over-par 868 to win the 2015 American Athletic Conference Women’s Golf Championship by two strokes Tuesday afternoon at Hammock Beach Resort & Golf Club in Palm Coast, Fla.

The No. 23 Knights shot rounds of 291, 287 and 290, and placed three individuals among the top-10. No. 47 SMU, which tied UCF by shooting the lowest round of the day on Tuesday, finished second with a three-round 12-over-par total of 876 (299-287-290). No. 48 Houston was third with a 14-over-par total of 878 (297-289-292).

UCF senior Monifa Sealy claimed individual medalist honors after topping SMU’s Jenny Haglund in a one-hole playoff. Sealy clinched the title when she parred the extra hole and Haglund bogeyed after the duo finished the third round tied at three-under-par 213.

Houston’s Yuka Kajiki (74-72-68) and UCF’s Ashley Holder (74-69-71) tied for third with a three-round total of 214.

NCAA Women’s Golf Regionals take place May 7-9 and the National Championship, hosted by USF, is set for May 22-27 at Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Florida. The NCAA Women's Golf Championships selections will be announced live via the Golf Channel Monday, April 27 during Golf Central, which will air that evening from 6 to 7 p.m. EST. Additionally, the show will be streamed live on the Golf Channel website and posted afterwards on the NCAA website at www.ncaa.com.
