American Athletic Conference Men’s Golf Championship Set For This Weekend

CHAMPIONSHIP CENTRAL

PROVIDENCE, R.I. –
The American Athletic Conference is gearing up for its Men’s Golf Championship at Black Diamond Ranch in Lecanto, Fla. The three-day event, hosted by The American and USF, will take place this Sunday through Tuesday, April 26-28.

Play on the par-72, 7,025-yard Quarry Course will begin at 8 a.m. ET with 18 holes each of the three days. An awards presentation will take place following the final round on Tuesday. Admission to the event is free and open to the public, and live scoring can be found through www.GolfStat.com or on the GolfStat mobile applications.

The event features all 10 American teams, two of which are ranked among the nation’s top-50, according to the latest GolfStat rankings announced on April 22. USF is the league’s highest-rated team at No. 28 while SMU checks in at No. 42.

Temple’s Brandon Matthews is the nation’s 36th-ranked golf player heading into this weekend’s championship, while SMU’s Bryson DeChambeau ranks 43rd nationally. DeChambeau was one of six juniors named to the 2015 Ben Hogan Award Watch List in March, the most prestigious award in men's college golf.

The Mustangs won last year’s championship by five strokes over second-place UCF while individual champion DeChambeau carded a 7-under 206 to earn medalist honors.
