USF Wins 2015 American Men’s Golf Championship, Fricker Claims Individual Medalist Honors

LECANTO, Fla. –
No. 18 USF shot a 27-under-par 837 to win the 2015 American Athletic Conference Men’s Golf Championship by 14 strokes over runner-up and No. 29 SMU Monday afternoon at Black Diamond Ranch in Lecanto, Fla. The altered championship schedule saw the event shortened to two days due to expected inclement weather in the Lecanto, Florida area.
 
The Bulls shot rounds of 282, 275 and 280, and placed three individuals among the top-10. The Mustangs, who shot the lowest round of the day, a championship record 273, finished second with a three-round 14-under-par total of 850 (289-288-273). UCF was third with an 8-under-par total of 856 (285-288-283).
 


Individual medalist Ryan Fricker (USF) shot an 11-under par 205 over the three rounds and ended with a 1-under-par 71 on Monday. SMU's Bryson Dechambeau followed Fricker individually and finished as the championship runner-up at 9-under 207. Dechambeau set a new championship individual low with his round of 64 today.

USF’s Trey Valentine (74-68-67) and UCF’s Linus Vaisanen (70-68-71) tied for third with a three-round total of 209.
 
The 2015 NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championships selections will be announced live on Monday, May 4 at 10 a.m. ET during Morning Drive, Golf Channel’s daily morning news and lifestyle show. NCAA Men’s Golf Regionals take place May 14-16 and the National Championship, hosted by USF, is set for May 29-June 3 at Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Florida.
