PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame has announced that nine American Athletic Conference student-athletes are among the 817 players nationally who were named as members of the 2015 NFF Hampshire Honor Society.
The Hampshire Honor Society is comprised of college football players from all divisions who each maintained a cumulative grade-point average of 3.2 or better. The players are starters or significant contributors who completed their eligibility – or were seniors who had declared for the NFL Draft – in the 2014 season.
The honorees include Memphis linebacker Charles Harris, who was the 2014 American Athletic Conference Football Scholar-Athlete of the Year, and Tulane safety Sam Scofield, who was named a Captial One Academic All-America selection in 2014.
SMU and Tulsa had two players each recognized. The Mustangs are represented by wide receiver Stephen Nelson and linebacker Stephon Sanders, while the Golden Hurricane had cornerback Austin McDaniel and linebacker Jake Sizelove on the squad.
UCF defensive back Sean Beckton, UConn long snapper Adam Mueller and East Carolina kicker Warren Harvey were also named to the honor society
