PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly baseball honors for the week ending April 4.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Chris Carrier • So. • OF • Memphis
Carrier hit .438 (7-for-16) with five runs batted in for the Tigers in a week that included a series win over No. 20/20 Houston. The Memphis native went 3-for-4 with a home run, double and two runs batted against Ole Miss Tuesday before picking up at least one hit in each of the Tigers’ three weekend games against the Cougars. Carrier homered and drove in two runs while scoring twice in Saturday’s 14-6 victory over Houston. For the year, Carrier is hitting .260 with three home runs and 14 runs batted in for a Memphis team that is 15-4 since March 10.

Love tossed a four-hit shutout in East Carolina’s 3-0 win over Tulane Friday to get the Pirates started on a weekend series win. The Dunnellon, Florida, native faced two batters over the minimum in the victory, as he induced three ground-ball double plays. All four hits were singles, and the fifth batter to reach was on an error. The gem was just the third start of the year on the mound for Love, who has made 10 appearances out of the bullpen for East Carolina and has three saves to go along with a 3-2 record and 2.88 ERA. He is also hitting .311 over 74 at-bats while playing the outfield and designated hitter for the Pirates.
