Commissioner Mike Aresco has issued the following statement following UConn’s 10th national championship following the Women’s Final Four:

On behalf of the American Athletic Conference and its eleven institutions, I take great pride in congratulating the University of Connecticut, head coach Geno Auriemma, his staff, and his players on winning an unprecedented 10th NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship, as well as winning three straight titles from 2013-15. This historic accomplishment reflects the unsurpassed dedication, skill and commitment which has characterized the UConn program over the years, and which has made it the gold standard in women’s college basketball. As we recognize this team for its special achievement, we also recognize and congratulate Geno’s previous teams who contributed to this remarkable legacy.
