PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly baseball honors for the week ending May 10.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Corey Julks • Fr. • INF/OF • Houston
Julks hit his first two collegiate home runs in a 3-1 week for No. 25/21 Houston that included a series win over East Carolina at Cougar Field. The Friendswood, Texas, native hit his first career homer in the second inning of Houston’s Tuesday win over McNeese State. Julks then had three hits and a walk in Friday’s series opener against the Pirates before racking up two hits and an RBI Saturday. He followed that Sunday by clubbing a three-run homer in Houston’s series-clinching win. Julks was 8-for-15 (.533) on the week with two home runs, six runs batted in and three runs scored while walking three times. For the year, Julks is hitting .296 with two home runs and 23 runs batted in.

Andrew Lantrip • So. • RHP • Houston
A Houston pitcher earns conference honors for the fourth consecutive week and sixth time this year with Lantrip’s selection. The sophomore from Livingston, Texas, tossed eight innings of one-run ball and struck out nine in the No. 25/21 Cougars’ Friday win over East Carolina. Lantrip allowed just one extra-base hit in the game as he improved to 7-3 on the year with a 2.28 ERA and 86 strikeouts against 17 walks in 90.2 innings.
