The American Today - Tulane Sweeps Pivotal Doubleheader on Final Day of Regular Season

Tulane climbed in the standings with a doubleheader sweep, helping to set the field for The American Baseball Championship on the final day of the regular season.
 
Tulane swept Memphis in a doubleheader to improve to 32-22 and 13-11 in The American. The Green Wave won the first game 5-2 with 1B Garrett Deschamp driving in three runs. Tulane pounded out 19 hits in a 9-1 win in the nightcap. RHP Emerson Gibbs tossed six shutout innings and allowed just one hit in the second game. Memphis fell to 35-19 and 12-12 in conference play with the losses.
 
LF Luke Lowery doubled home RF Eric Tyler in the eighth to give East Carolina an 8-7 win over Cincinnati at Marge Schott Stadium. 1B Bryce Harman drove in three runs for the Pirates, who improved to 36-20 and 15-9 in The American. 2B Ian Happ went 3-for-5 and drove in two runs for the Bearcats, who dropped to 15-39 and 6-18 in conference play.
 
Three No. 19/21 Houston pitchers combined for a four-hit shutout in a 1-0 win over UConn. DH Jacob Campbell drove in the lone run with a fourth-inning single to score RF Zac Taylor. With the win, Houston moved to 39-17 and 16-8 in The American. RHP Jordan Tabakman tossed a complete game in the defeat for the Huskies, who fell to 33-23 and 11-13 in league action.
 
USF held off UCF for a 5-4 win in Tampa. SS Kyle Teaf drove in two runs and scored two more for the Bulls, who improved to 32-22-1 and 13-11 in The American. LF Eugene Vazquez had a two-RBI day for the Knights, who dropped to 31-25 and 10-14 in conference action.
 
The tournament bracket for the 2015 American Athletic Conference Baseball Championship will be announced later Saturday evening.
