PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly baseball honors for the week ending May 16.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Garrett Brooks • Jr. • OF • East Carolina
Brooks homered twice and drove in four runs during a 4-0 week for the Pirates that included a sweep on the road at Cincinnati as East Carolina secured the No. 2 seed in the American Athletic Conference Baseball Championship. The Chesapeake, Virginia, native went 4-for-7 and was on base in eight of 12 plate appearances via three walks and a hit by pitch. Brooks homered on both Thursday and Friday against the Bearcats and drew a walk as a pinch hitter Saturday. For the year, Brooks is hitting .259 with three homers, 12 runs batted in and a .366 on-base percentage.

Alex Massey • Jr. • RHP • Tulane
Massey tossed a seven-inning complete-game to help Tulane to a doubleheader sweep of Memphis as the Green Wave moved up to the No. 3 seed in the American Athletic Conference Baseball Championship. The Baton Rouge, Louisiana, native held the Tigers to two runs on four hits and struck out six for his sixth victory of the year and second complete game. Massey is 6-3 with a 3.39 ERA on the year to go along with a .233 opposing batting average.
