One team picked up an emphatic win in an elimination game Saturday while one fell for the first time in regional play and another had its season come to a close.
Tulane kept its season alive and tied its season-high in runs scored with a 15-3 win over Lehigh in an elimination game at the Baton Rouge Regional. 1B Tyler Wilson drove in four runs for the Green Wave and C Jake Rogers added three as Tulane improved to 35-24. The game featured a rain delay of three hours and 16 minutes in the fifth inning. The Green Wave will face the loser of Saturday night’s game between No. 1/1 LSU and UNCW Sunday at 4 p.m. ET.
USF fell 8-2 to No. 3/3 Florida in the Gainesville regional. C Levi Borders drove in the lone run for the Bulls, who dropped to 34-25-1. USF will square off with No. 21 Florida Atlantic in an elimination game Sunday at Noon on ESPN3.
No. 23/25 East Carolina’s season concluded with a 2-0 defeat at the hands of FIU in the Coral Gables Regional. The game was scoreless into the eighth inning before the Panthers pushed across a pair of runs for the victory. CF Garrett Brooks had three of the seven hits for the Pirates, who finished the year at 40-22 with the American Athletic Conference tournament championship.
Houston’s game against Louisiana-Lafayette was postponed due to heavy rain and localized flooding in the area around Cougar Field. The Cougars and Ragin’ Cajuns are slated to play at 4 p.m. ET Sunday on ESPN3.
