ORLANDO – Tournament host and top seeded UCF rallied in the seventh inning to a 3-1 win over No. 5 seed USF Friday afternoon in the semifinals of the American Softball Championship at UCF Softball Complex. The Knights will face off with No. 2 seed Tulsa in the championship title game on Saturday at 1 p.m. ET on ESPN2.

The 15th ranked Knights got on board first when Jessica Ujvari’s single plated Farrah Sullivan, giving UCF the 1-0 lead. The Knights held a one-run advantage for the next five innings until USF tied the score on Lee Ann Spivey’s RBI in the sixth inning.

Ujvari, the reigning American Player of the Year, had a clutch hit in the top of the seventh inning to give UCF the 3-1 advantage. Her left field single drove in Linnea Goodman and Maddy Schroeder, which turned out to be the game-winning runs.

Junior Shelby Turnier got the win in the circle for UCF, while Sam Greiner took the loss for USF.

The Knights improved to 47-7 with the win while the Bulls fell to 36-20 with the loss.
