Athletes from All 11 Conference Members Qualify for NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships

EUGENE, Ore. - A total of 28 individual competitors and four relay teams spanning all 11 members of The American have qualified for the 2015 NCAA Division I Men’s & Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Championships with their performances at last weekend’s preliminary rounds in Jacksonville, Florida, and Austin, Texas.
 
Memphis leads the way with seven athletes at the national championship as four men and three women will compete in Eugene. On the men’s side, the Tigers placed two athletes in the javelin, as Kyle Bynum (227-5/69.33m) and Michael Criticos (226-11/69.17m) made the list of 12 in Jacksonville. They will be joined by discus thrower Luke Vaughn (190-4/58.01m) and pole vaulter Pauls Pujats. Pujats was part of a tie for first at the East Preliminaries (17-2.75/5.25m) that included five athletes from The American. For the women, a pair of pole vaulters - Carolina Carmichael and Sabrina Hochreuther (both 13-8.5/4.18m) - will head to TrackTown and be joined by Maya Williamson, who will compete in the 800-meter run (2:04.33).
 
Cincinnati will send four athletes to Eugene, including men’s pole vaulter Adrian Valles, who was part of the tie for first at the East Preliminaries (17-2.75/5.25m). Kenya Woodall qualified in the women’s 400-meter dash (52.70), while Erika Hurd made the list in the high jump (5-10.5/1.79m) and Rebecka Abrahamsson qualified in the triple jump (42-4.75/12.92m).
 
Three individuals and two relay teams from Houston qualified at the West Preliminaries in Austin, Texas. The Cougars will be represented in the hurdles, as Isaac Williams qualified in the men’s 110-meter hurdles (13.76), while Sade-Mariah Greenidge advanced in the women’s 100-meter hurdles (13.31). Brittany Kinney made the list in the women’s triple jump (42-1.25/12.83m), while both the men’s (39.56) and women’s (44.52) 4x100-meter relay teams will go to Eugene.
 
Three men’s runners from Tulsa qualified in Austin. Bryce Robinson will run the 200-meter dash (20.69), while Simon Greiner (800; 1:48.78) and Marc Scott (10,000; 29:48.51) also qualified with their times at the West Preliminaries.
 
Two field athletes and a relay team will represent SMU in Eugene. Isabella Marten qualified in the triple jump (42-10.25/13.06m), while Lucija Cvitanovic made the list of 12 in the javelin (153-11/46.92m). The Mustangs’ 4x100-meter relay team (44.71) also advanced to the national championships.
 
UCF’s J’Nea Bellamy qualified in two events - the 100 (11.54) and 200-meter (23.28) dashes - and will be part of the 4x100-meter relay team (44.41) that is headed to Eugene.
 
UConn will send a pair of men’s pole vaulters to the national championships. Craig Hunter and Cory Duggan were both part of a tie at the top at the East Preliminaries last weekend (17-2.75/5.25m).
 
Two men’s field athletes from USF qualified at the East Preliminaries. David Shepherd was part of the tie for first in the pole vault (17-2.75/5.25m) and will be joined by triple jumper Matthew O’Neal (51-4.25/15.65m).
 
East Carolina will have two athletes competing in Eugene. Avion Jones was part of a tie for first in the men’s high jump (6-11.75/2.13m), while Aiesha Goggins qualified in the women’s 400-meter dash (51.81).
 
Temple and Tulane will each have one athlete headed to Eugene. The Owls’ Blanca Fernandez qualified in the women’s 1,500-meter run (4:19.86), while the Green Wave’s Devon Breaux will compete in the long jump (24-9.75/7.56m)
