Hali Oughton Named Multimedia Coordinator and Reporter at The American

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Commissioner Mike Aresco has announced the hiring of Hali Oughton as multimedia coordinator and reporter at the American Athletic Conference, effective July 1.

Oughton remains with The American in a full-time capacity after she served a one-year term as the conference’s digital media assistant in the 2014-15 academic year.

“I am delighted to have Hali join our staff on a full-time basis,” said Aresco. “She is a hard-working and talented professional who has done excellent work with our multimedia platforms and will continue to tell the great stories of our student-athletes and coaches.”

Oughton will serve as the primary point person for video production efforts for the conference, including her on-camera role with The American Digital Network.

Oughton was instrumental in the creation of “The Rise,” a 35-episode weekly program highlighting the top stories in The American. She served as the program’s in-studio host and on-site reporter for regular-season and championship events and produced a number of feature stories on the coaches and student-athletes in the conference.

Oughton’s efforts contributed to an exponential growth in viewership on The American Digital Network from the previous year. She also manages the daily operation of The American’s video command center.

Oughton came to The American in 2014 after she served as the manager of digital media for the Tennessee Smokies, a minor league affiliate of the Chicago Cubs.

Oughton is a graduate of East Carolina University, where she was an all-conference soccer player and a team captain. She was the first recipient of the East Carolina School of Communication’s Young Alumnus Award in 2015.
